SAINT CECILIA was born in the 2nd century AD in Rome. She was a noble lady of Rome who suffered martyrdom. She is the patron saint of musicians because as she lay dying a martyr's death, she sang to God. She is frequently depicted playing an organ or other musical instrument. Her feast day is celebrated on November 22.
