SAINT GREGORY,better known as Gregory the Great was born in Rome. His name Gregorius means WATCHFUL and it applies vey much to his life. It is said that he was very diligent in God's commandments. Gregory was pope from September 3, 590 until his death. He is well known for his writings. He was the first of the popes to come from a monastic background. He is a Doctor of the Church and one of the six Latin Fathers. Immediately after his death, he was canonized by popular acclaim. He is the patron saint of musicians, singers, students and teachers. His feast day - September 3.
