PADRE PIO [Francesco Forgione] was born on May 25, 1887 in Italy. His parents made a living as peasant farmers. He worked on the land up to the age of 10 which delayed his education up to some extent. He was ordained priest in 1910 and became famous for his experience of stigmata. He is a patron saint of civil defense volunteers, and Catholic adolescents.
