ST PETER
SIMON PETER (Greek: stone,rock) sometimes called Simon Cephas, was a leader of the Christian Church. He was the son of John and Jonah, and was from the village of Bethsaida in the province of Galilee. He is regarded as the first Pope by the Catholic Church. He was one of the twelve apostles, chosen by Jesus from his first disciples. He was a fisherman assigned a leadership role by Jesus and was with Jesus during events witnessed by only few apostles, such as the Transfiguration. He is the patron saint of The Papacy, Bakers, Bridge Builders, Fishermen, Harvesters. Feast day - June 29
